How this list was compiled

A list of 104 desert team names written by Wheel of Teams on 2026-10-02 and filed in four groups: cactus and succulent puns, dune, mirage and oasis names, desert animals, and sun and heat names. The names are our own work; none was taken from a real team, a company or a product, and any match is a coincidence. The desert and cactus words were looked up on 2026-10-02 in two English Wikipedia articles, text under CC BY-SA 4.0: Desert (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desert) and Cactus (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cactus). Under 22 names a line says which animal it is; each line follows the opening of that animal's English Wikipedia article (for example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fennec_fox, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cactus_wren and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerboa), read the same day. Compared by script the same day with every other list on this site: no name is repeated. Nothing was checked against a trademark register. Licence: own work
