Five sets in the menu

Crew names is the first set in the menu: The Spyglass Crew, Keepers of the Map. Ship names for a team reads like a name painted on a hull, such as The Rusty Anchor. The cute pirate group names are the third set, for a birthday party or a classroom: Parrot Pals, Paper Hat Mateys. Funny names is last.

Space pirate group names

The fourth set moves the ship off the sea: The Comet Corsairs, Airlock Ahoy. Two crew words may be new. Hardtack is a hard biscuit of flour and water once carried as a staple food (Wiktionary), and on a ship with three masts the mizzenmast is the one farthest aft (Wikipedia's glossary of nautical terms); both read on 4 October 2026.

Questions and answers

What are cool pirate group names?

The Tattered Sails, Crew of the Crooked Mast, Scallywags of the Shallows, The Midnight Tide and The Starlit Schooner. All five are in the crew and ship sets, and the puns are kept to the last set.

What are good pirate group names for kids?

Little Buccaneers, Starfish Sailors, Birthday Buccaneers, The Kind Pirates and Mini Mateys are in the cute set, which has 26 names.

Are these the names of real pirate groups?

No. Every crew and ship here is invented. Each name was compared by script with Wikipedia's lists of pirates, fictional pirates, pirate films and fictional ships on 4 October 2026, and a name that matched a title there was taken out.

Do these work as pirate team names?

Yes. Nothing in a name ties it to a chat or a club. The Mighty Mackerel, Anchor Haulers and Orbit Outlaws read as pirate themed team names for a field day or a quiz.

Is this a pirate group name generator?

It draws from a written list. Each press picks five of the 130 names, and it builds no new name from parts. The group name generator on this site builds a name in three parts.

How this list was compiled

A list of 130 pirate group names written by Wheel of Teams on 2026-10-04 and filed in five groups. Every crew and ship is invented. None was taken from a film, a ride, a game, a show, a book, a sports club or a real pirate. Compared by script on 2026-10-04 with five Wikipedia lists, text under CC BY-SA 4.0: List of pirates (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_pirates), List of fictional pirates (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fictional_pirates), List of pirate films and television series, List of space pirates and List of fictional ships; a name that matched a title there was taken out. Each name, and each pair of neighboring words in it, was also looked up as an article title on English Wikipedia the same day; every hit was read, and a name that leaned on the title of a film, a show, a song, a book or a business was taken out, while everyday phrases stayed. Hardtack follows its entry in Wiktionary (https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/hardtack) and mizzenmast follows Wikipedia's Glossary of nautical terms (M–Z) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glossary_of_nautical_terms_(M%E2%80%93Z)), both read the same day. Compared by script the same day with every other list on this site: no name is repeated. Nothing was checked against a trademark register. Licence: own work
