    How it works

This aux battle wheel holds 100 round themes in five groups. Spin one, let each player put on a song that fits, and settle the round with the judging line printed under the theme.

    Read the full guide

    Run a round

Spin once a round. Each player picks one song for the theme and plays about a minute of it on the shared speaker. A judge who is not playing, or a show of hands, names the winner. The wheel opens in Elimination, so a theme that has come up leaves the wheel and cannot repeat.

Keep the wheel to one kind of round

The Show only menu keeps Throwbacks, Moods, Decades and genres, Road trip or Wild cards: 20 themes each. A wild card sets a rule for the track itself, such as a color in the title or a running time. Themes of your own go in My list, one per line.

    Tips
    • Agree the scoring before the first spin: first to five round wins, or most wins after ten spins.
    • The judging line is a suggestion. Where the room has a house rule, the house rule wins.

    Questions and answers

    What is an aux battle?

A music game for two or more players who share one speaker. Each round has a theme, every player plays a song that fits it, and a judge or a vote picks the winner of the round. This wheel supplies the theme.

Does the wheel play the songs?

No. It picks the theme and nothing else. Players use the speaker and the music they already have. The page names no song and no artist, so every pick is a player's own.

How many players does an aux battle need?

Two can play if a third person judges. With a bigger group, go around the room, one song each, then vote by show of hands. A common house rule: nobody votes for their own pick.

Can a theme come up twice?

Not in Elimination, the mode this page opens in: each theme leaves the wheel once it has come up. Elimination is not remembered after you close the page, so finish the battle in one sitting.
