Questions and answers
Which funny Vietnamese team name fits a slow team?
Lề mề (dawdling), Chậm chạp (slow, sluggish), Buồn ngủ (sleepy) and Thong thả (leisurely) are in Funny words. They are dictionary words, so the joke is in the meaning and not in a pun.
Do the marks belong to the name?
Yes. Each name is spelled as its Wiktionary entry is titled, with its tone marks and the letters ă, â, đ, ê, ô, ơ and ư: Sức mạnh, Kiên cường, Đỉnh cao. Without its marks a word may be a different word.
Are these the names of real Vietnamese teams?
None was taken from a club. Two words that are part of a national side's nickname on Wikipedia's lists were left out, and so was a word whose Wikipedia page is a footballer.
Where do the meanings come from?
From the Vietnamese section of each word's entry in the English Wiktionary, read on 2026-10-08 and put in our own words. A word with no entry, or with a sense labelled vulgar or derogatory, is not on the list.
