Questions and answers
What do yes and, offer and blocking mean in improv?
An offer is anything a performer adds that defines the scene, such as a name, a place or a relationship. “Yes, and” is a rule of thumb: accept what the other improviser said, then build on it. Blocking is not accepting the offer.
What are cool improv group names for a college troupe?
Campus Improv Collective, Quad Improv Company, Basement Stage Players, Bare Stage Ensemble and Never the Same Show Twice are in Theater and college troupes.
What are improv names for a two-person act?
Double Act Unscripted, Two Improvisers One Chair, Two Mics Zero Lines, Both of Us Unscripted and Smallest Troupe in Town are five of the 16 names in Two-person and three-person acts.
Is any name a real improv company?
No name is a company on Wikipedia’s list of improv companies, read on 2026-10-02. Plain words are shared widely, so a troupe somewhere may already use one of these names; no trademark register was checked.
A list of 93 improv group names written by Wheel of Teams on 2026-10-02 and filed in five groups. The improv words the names lean on (a suggestion, an offer, blocking, a scene, short form and long form) were read in the English Wikipedia articles Improvisational theatre, Yes, and... and Harold (improvisation) on 2026-10-02, licensed CC BY-SA 4.0. Each name was searched on Wikipedia the same day, and a name found there as a show, a film, a book, a song or an album was taken out. No name is a company on that article or on Wikipedia’s List of improvisational theatre companies, read the same day, and none was taken from a theater, a show, a school or a performer. Plain words are shared widely, so a troupe somewhere may already use one of these names. Compared with every other list on this site on 2026-10-02 and again on 2026-10-03: no name is repeated. The .com and .org address that each whole name spells was asked for on 2026-10-03 and every page that answered was read: a coined name in use there by a company, a band, a shop or a real group was taken out, and a plain term was kept. One name in Short-form and game night teams was reworded later on 2026-10-03 and given the same Wikipedia and address look-ups; nothing answered for it. Nothing was checked against a trademark register. Licence: own work
