    Group Name of the day

    How it works

Press New group name and three parts follow The: an opener of brass, steam or clockwork, an emblem that is an instrument or an engine, such as an orrery or a pressure gauge, and a body word from Aeronauts to Patent Office.

Lead with your airship or workshop

Type its name in Your airship or workshop, for example Larkspur, and it takes the opener's place: The Larkspur Orrery Aeronauts. A locked part stays while the other two change. Print 30 group names gives the crew a sheet to vote on.

    Crew, works or learned society

The body word sets the kind of group. Aeronauts, Airship Crew and Balloonists fly. Cog Works, Engine Works and Manufactory build. Exploring Society, Geographical Society and Mechanics' Institute meet and give lectures. Patent Office and Weather Bureau keep the records.

    Tips
    • For a costume group, lock an emblem a member already carries: Flight Goggles, a Pocket Chronometer or a Telescope.

    Questions and answers

What are good names for a steampunk group?

The Coal-Smudged Orrery Aeronauts, The Half-Wound Pressure Gauge Tinkers' Union, The Gas-Lit Dirigible Exploring Society and The Whirring Pocket Chronometer Patent Office. Each is one opener, one emblem and one body word from the lists on this page.

    What is steampunk?

Steampunk is a kind of science fiction built on technology and looks inspired by the steam-powered machinery of the 1800s, often set in an alternative Victorian era, says Wikipedia's Steampunk article, read October 3, 2026. So the lists hold brass, boilers, clockwork and airships.

Are the names taken from a steampunk book, film or game?

No. The lists are our own. No pair of neighboring parts appears in Wikipedia's Steampunk article or its list of steampunk works, read October 3, 2026, and two entries that matched a novel's title were taken out. A group somewhere may still use one.
