How it works
This rarity wheel has 20 slices over six tiers: Common 8, Uncommon 5, Rare 3, Epic 2, Legendary 1 and Mythic 1. So Common wins 2 spins in 5 and Legendary 1 in 20.

The chance of each tier
Every line is one slice, so a tier's chance is its lines out of 20. Common is 8 in 20, or 2 in 5. Uncommon is 5 in 20, or 1 in 4. Rare is 3 in 20. Epic is 2 in 20, or 1 in 10. Legendary and Mythic are 1 in 20 each. Rare or better comes up 7 times in 20.
Change the chances with lines
There is no weight box. To make Legendary rarer, add eight Common lines: it falls to 1 in 28. To make it less rare, type a second Legendary line and it holds 2 in 21.
Tips
- On Tally, count how many spins a Legendary takes. About one run in three goes 20 spins without one.
- Spin the tier first, then the thing: a Common dragon and a Mythic spoon are both drawing prompts.
- Other names work. Retype the lines as Bronze, Silver and Gold, and keep the repeats to keep the chances.
Questions and answers
What order do the rarity tiers go in?
On this wheel, from most common: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, then Legendary and Mythic, which have the same chance. The names are everyday words. If yours has other names or fewer tiers, retype the lines.
Is the rarity wheel random?
Yes. The winning slice is drawn at random in your browser, with the same chance for each of the 20 lines, and the wheel then turns to it. Earlier spins change nothing, so two Legendary results in a row can happen: 1 time in 400.
What is a rarity wheel used for?
For anything made up that needs a rank: a character's power, an item in a tabletop adventure, a creature in a story, a trading card you are drawing. Spin the tier, then decide what a Rare one has that a Common one lacks.
Can I add a tier of my own?
Yes. Type it on a new line in Your tiers, such as Secret. One new line among 21 has a chance of 1 in 21. The list is kept in this browser, and Use the sample again brings back the starting 20 lines.
