Lead with your ship, station or home world
Enter its name under Your ship, station or home world, say Ondara, and that word opens each result: The Ondara Antenna Deck Crew. Tap a part, then its padlock, and it stays put while the other two are drawn again. Print 30 group names fills one sheet for the table.
Crews first, councils second
The body words come in two groups: crews and companies such as Deck Crew, Haulers and Shipyard, then councils and movements such as Senate, Commonwealth and Reclamation. Wikipedia describes a galactic empire as a single centralized political entity ruling most or all habitable planets of a galaxy; Empire, Federation, Alliance, Republic and Imperium are not on these lists.
Questions and answers
What is a good sci-fi name for a group?
The Rimward Antenna Deck Crew, The Outbound Quark Senate, The Redshift Solar Sail Haulers and The Uncharted Hologram Commonwealth. Each takes one opener, one instrument or sky thing and one body word from the lists on this page.
Does the sci-fi group name generator use names from films, shows or games?
No. The lists are ours, and on October 4, 2026 a script held every name they can spell against the names linked on six Wikipedia pages of fictional organizations, galactic communities and spacecraft. None was there. A new story may still use one.
Can it name both a ship’s crew and a government?
Yes. Hold a crew word such as Deck Crew or Mechanics for the people of one ship, or a council word such as Senate or Protectorate for a power that spans worlds, then press for a new opener and emblem.
