This 5 letter team names generator draws five one-word names of exactly five letters, such as Otter, Blaze and Flint. A script counts every name, so each one fits a scoreboard, a jersey or a game tag with a limit.

How the letters are counted

Every name is one dictionary word with no space, digit or hyphen. A script counts the letters of all 300 and stops the build when one sits in the wrong group or is only the plural of another.

Tips

  • An s adds a letter: Otter is five, Otters is six. Bison, Moose, Elk and Koi need no s.
  • Honor, Valor, Vigor and Armor have five letters in American spelling only. The British spellings have six.

The same script reads the 139 team names in the five professional league lists on this site (checked against the leagues on 2026-09-18) and refuses any row that is a word of one of those names, in the singular or the plural, so no name here was taken from a professional club; clubs in other leagues were not checked, and ordinary words are shared widely. It also refuses any row that is already a row of the A to Z team names page or the small team names page.
