5 Team Round Robin Bracket: how it works
A 5 team round robin tournament is 10 games: five rounds of two, a different team resting each round, so everyone plays four times. People call the chart a bracket, but nobody is knocked out. The example runs on two courts, 40-minute games from 1:00 to 4:20 pm. Type your names over the sample teams.
Two courts is all a round robin bracket for 5 teams can use
A round has only two games, so two courts play a whole round at once and a third would stand empty. On one court play runs until 7:40 pm, and one team waits 2 hours 40 minutes between games. On two courts the bye is the only break anyone gets.
Who rests when, line by line
Untick Random draw, press Make schedule, and lines 1 to 5 rest in rounds 1, 3, 5, 2 and 4. Line 2 gets the kindest day: two games, a round off, two games. Lines 1 and 3 play four in a row, but line 1 starts at 1:40 pm and line 3 is done by 3:40. Give those lines to the late arrival and the team with the longest drive home.
Tips
- Two games at once and one team idle: split the resting team in two and each court has a referee or scorer, every round.
- Want a final? The top two play at 4:20, ending at 5:00. Semi-finals for the top four plus a final make 13 games and a 5:40 finish.

Questions and answers
What if a five team round robin loses a team?
Delete the name and press Make schedule: four teams play 6 games in three rounds, no byes, 1:00 to 3:00 pm on the example's two courts. If a team leaves part-way, decide at once whether its results stand. Striking them all ranks the remaining four on the same three opponents.
Is a 5 team bracket round robin or elimination?
A single elimination bracket for five is 4 games: three seeds start on a bye, and at least two of the five go home after one game. Double elimination is 8 games, or 9 with the if game. A round robin is 10, and every team is guaranteed four.
What if all five teams finish with two wins and two losses?
It can: each team beats two of the others and loses to the other two. Head-to-head cannot help, because every record among the tied teams is also two and two. Write the tiebreak on the sheet before round 1: point difference, then points scored, then a coin toss.
