Cricket team name suggestions by kind of side

The menu keeps the draw inside one set. Batting sides and Bowling and fielding sides suit a team that knows its strength: Century Makers, Yorker Specialists, Slip Cordon. Club, village and office teams covers the Sunday eleven and the lunch-break side.

What the puns mean

A maiden over is an over with no runs scored off the bat. A duck is a score of zero, and a golden duck is out to the first ball faced. A googly is a wrist spinner's ball that turns the opposite way, and a nightwatchman is a lower-order batter sent in late in the day.

How this list was compiled

A list of 123 made-up cricket team names written by Wheel of Teams on 2026-10-02 and filed in five groups. Every name is built on a cricket term: a way of batting, bowling or fielding, a dismissal, a place on the field or a habit of club cricket. None was taken from a national side, a franchise, a league, a board, a ground or a player, and any match with a real team is a coincidence. The terms were looked up on 2026-10-02 in Wikipedia's Glossary of cricket terms (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glossary_of_cricket_terms), text under CC BY-SA 4.0. A script looked for every name in Wikipedia's list of current first-class teams and its articles on seven franchise and county competitions, and compared the list with every other list on this site: no name is repeated. Nothing was checked against a trademark register. Licence: own work
