Five sets in the menu

The words in the names

To nock is to set an arrow in the bow, and to loose is to shoot it. An end is one round of arrows, rarely more than six. In clout archery the clout is a flag, and arrows score by how close they land. A boss is a foam or straw target.

Eighteen Meter Indoor Classic, Vertical Three Spot Shoot and Sixty Arrow Indoor Shoot follow the indoor round of the world federation: 60 arrows in qualification, shot over 18 meters at three small target faces in a vertical line.

What do I call a field or 3D archery shoot?

Red Peg Recurve Shoot and Blue Peg Barebow Classic are named after the pegs that mark where each archer stands on a field course. Around the Trail 3D Shoot and Third Dimension 3D Shoot are for a 3D course.

How this list was compiled

A list of 120 archery tournament names written by Wheel of Teams on 2026-10-09 and filed in five groups. They are our own suggestions. Every name carries a word of target, field, indoor or clout archery (a nock, a quiver, an end, a peg, a spot, the clout) and names the event, a shoot, an open or a cup, not a team; none is about hunting. The terms were looked up on 2026-10-09 in the English Wikipedia's Glossary of archery terms (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glossary_of_archery_terms) and its articles Archery (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archery), Target archery (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Target_archery), Field archery (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Field_archery), Clout archery (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clout_archery), 3D archery (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3D_archery) and Popinjay (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Popinjay_(sport)), text under CC BY-SA 4.0. The distances, arrow counts, pegs and target faces in the names follow World Archery's own pages on target archery (https://www.worldarchery.sport/sport/disciplines/target-archery), field archery (https://www.worldarchery.sport/sport/disciplines/field-archery), indoor archery (https://www.worldarchery.sport/sport/disciplines/indoor-archery) and the barebow (https://www.worldarchery.sport/sport/equipment/barebow), read the same day. No federation, club, bow maker, sponsor or real shoot is named. Each name, and each run of two and of three words inside it, was looked up in the English Wikipedia on 2026-10-09 as an article title, and each whole name as an exact phrase in the text of its articles; none stood there as an event. That look-up does not find a local shoot. Compared by script the same day with every other list on this site: no name is repeated. Nothing was checked against a trademark register, so a club's shoot may share a name by coincidence. Licence: own work
