Tournament Sign Up Sheet With a Waiting List: how it works
This tournament sign up sheet prints on paper and collects no sign-ups online: nothing you type is sent. It opens on 16 numbered entry lines with boxes for Team/player, Captain, Contact and Fee paid, and four waiting-list lines underneath. On paper the top line has blanks for the event, the date, the fee and the closing time.
Five sheets, each with a waiting list
8, 16 and 24 differ only in the number of entry lines. Doubles puts a pair on one line under Player 1, Player 2 and Contact. Every sheet ends with Wait 1 to Wait 4. People sign on the next free line, so the number shows who came first. Check-in is for the desk on the day: the same 20 lines with Checked in, Fee paid and Seed boxes.
From a full sheet to a draw
4, 8, 16, 32 or 64 entries fill a single-elimination bracket with no byes. Any count in between needs byes in round one, or a round robin. Sign-up order is not seeding: draw or seed the field once entries close. For 32 entries, print the 16 line sheet twice, renumber the second copy 17 to 32, then type the names into the 32 team bracket.
Tips
Fee paid is your box, not the entrant's. Tick it when the money is handed over, and an empty box shows who still owes.
A sheet on a wall is public: ask for an email address, and keep phone numbers at the desk.
Announce a check-in cut-off when you post the sheet. An entry that has not reported by then loses its line to Wait 1.
Questions and answers
Can people sign up online with this?
No. It is a sheet of paper: nothing you type is sent to us. Type in the entries you know, print it and post it with the other lines empty. What you type is kept in this browser, and Clear sheet keeps a copy so Undo can bring it back. On a shared computer use a private window, or leave Contact for the pen.
What if more teams want in than the sheet has lines?
They sign on Wait 1 to Wait 4 in order and move up only when an entry withdraws. If the waiting list fills early, print the next size up and copy the names across in the same order.
Can I rename a column?
Yes. Type over a heading: Captain can become Division or Age group. A renamed heading prints with Print filled sheet only, because the blank print leaves out everything typed. Every sheet fits one portrait page of US Letter or A4, and the 24 line sheet fills it, so it has no notes.

How this list was compiled: Own work: a paper form with no sports facts in it. The layout is numbered entry lines, four waiting-list lines under them, and four columns to fill in (Team/player, Captain, Contact, Fee paid), plus a doubles sheet with both partners on one line. A fifth sheet is for the desk on the day: the same 16 entry and 4 waiting-list lines with Checked in, Fee paid and Seed boxes, so the list that was posted becomes the list the bracket is filled from. The printed title carries blanks for the event, the date, the entry fee and the closing time, which are filled in by pen. The column names are short on purpose: in the print check below, 'Team or player', 'Captain or contact' and 'Phone or email' were cut off in the printed heading boxes, which hold about 12 characters when four columns share the page. The only arithmetic on it is that a single-elimination bracket is full at a power of two (4, 8, 16, 32 or 64 entries) and that 12 entries leave 4 byes (16 minus 12), which matches this site's own 8, 12, 16, 32 and 64 team bracket pages as read on 2026-09-19. Sheet sizes were set by the scoresheet widget's print estimate (sheetHeightMm, 255 mm to a US Letter page) and then by printing every sheet to PDF in headless Chromium on 2026-09-19, blank and filled, at US Letter and A4: 36 rows run on to a second page, so the largest sheet has 24 entry lines and 4 waiting-list lines, and that sheet prints no notes under the grid because even one line of them pushed it on to a second US Letter page.
