Every two teams meet once. Lane pairs: no team is on any one lane pair more than 2 games more than another.

How it works

This 8 team bowling schedule runs seven weeks: every team bowls the other seven once, four matches a week on lanes 1 to 8. Each match gets a lane pair, and the pairs are shared out across the weeks.

8 teams on 4 lane pairs: 7 weeks, 28 matches

Nobody sits out. Over the seven weeks every team bowls on each lane pair at least once and on none more than three times. Choose Twice under Play each team and the 14 week season gives every team three or four nights on each pair.

Longer seasons, odd team counts

Set Weeks in the season to 28 and every team gets six to eight nights on each pair. With seven or nine teams one is off each week, and a round lasts as many weeks as there are teams.

  • For a position round, add a spare week under More options and write in first v second, third v fourth.
  • One page for each captain: pick the team under Show only, then print its opponent and lanes, week by week.

Questions and answers

How many weeks is an 8 team bowling schedule?

Seven for one round. A longer season repeats the round: 14 weeks is two rounds, 21 three, 28 four and 35 five. A position round or a spare week adds one more.

How many lanes does an 8 team bowling league need?

Eight. Four matches bowl at once, and a league match is usually bowled across two lanes, the teams switching lanes after every frame. If your league starts on another lane, rename the pairs under More options: Lanes 9-10, 11-12 and so on.

How do I make a bowling schedule for 6, 10 or 12 teams?

Type that many team names and the weeks follow: 5 weeks a round for 6 teams, 9 for 10, 11 for 12. Then set Lane pairs in use, under More options, to half the team count. The list below covers 4 to 24 teams.

Does this bowling schedule keep standings?

No, it is the schedule only, and nothing is saved online. A printed standings sheet filled in after each week does the job on paper; standings and averages that update themselves take league software.

How this list was compiled: Twenty-one bowling league sizes, 4 to 24 teams, worked out by Wheel of Teams and counted by script on 2026-10-09. For each size the script builds one round and two rounds with the schedule tool of this page itself, on as many lane pairs as there are matches in a week, and confirms what the description says: that every two teams meet once in one round and twice in two, that every team bowls or is off exactly once a week, the number of weeks, the matches a week and in all, the one week off each team gets in a round when the team count is odd, and the fewest and the most times any team bowls on any one lane pair. A round follows the circle method described at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Round-robin_tournament (one team stays put and the others move round one place each week; with an odd count an empty chair is added, and the team beside it is off), read on 2026-10-09. That a league match is bowled across two lanes, the teams switching lanes after every frame, was read at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bowling_league on 2026-10-09; that position rounds (first place against second, third against fourth) are often put into a season was read at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenpin_bowling the same day. Wikipedia text is under the CC BY-SA 4.0 license; only facts and the method were taken from it. The counts are arithmetic on the schedule, not search numbers. Your own league's rules decide the length of the season and where a position round goes. No real league, club or bowler appears in this dataset. Licence: own work
