14 Team Round Robin Schedule: how it works
A 14 team round robin is 91 games. Fourteen is even, so nobody sits out: all 14 play in each of the 13 rounds, seven games at a time. The sample runs on four courts from 8:00 with 20-minute games and ends at 4:40 pm.
Why four courts finish as fast as six
Seven games on four courts take two slots: four games, then three. Five or six courts still need two slots, so the day stays at 26 slots and a 4:40 finish. Only a seventh court changes it: 13 slots, done by 12:20. Court 4 stands empty every second slot: make it the warm-up court. Three courts take 13 hours.
A 14-team league: 13 weeks, and the awkward 14th
One round a week makes a 13-week season in which every team plays every week. Clear First match starts to print the rounds without clock times. A 14-team fantasy league with a 13-week regular season is exactly one single round robin. If yours runs 14 weeks, replay round 1 as a rivalry week: untick Random draw, type rivals on lines that pair in round 1, such as 1 and 14 or 7 and 8, and press Make schedule.
Tips
- Thirteen games cannot split evenly: in typed order odd lines are listed first seven times, even lines six. Double makes it 13 and 13 over 26 rounds.
- No-show? Keep the sheet and treat the missing name as a bye: 91 games become 78 in the same 13 rounds.
- Show only lists one team's 13 games. Print that for its captain, or save a PDF from your browser's print window.
Questions and answers
Who referees a 14 team round robin tournament when nobody has a bye?
The teams between games. On four courts a round is four games and then three, so six teams are free in one slot and eight in the next. Nobody plays more than two games running or waits over 40 minutes. On seven courts all 14 play at once, so bring outside officials.
Two pools of seven, or one pool of 14?
Two pools of seven cut 91 games to 42: 21 a pool, six games per team, and one bye each because seven is odd. Winners and runners-up then cross over into semi-finals. On three courts with 30-minute games, pool play takes seven hours. The price: half the field never meet.
Can 91 games fit in one day?
Yes, given courts. Seven courts and 20-minute games finish all 13 rounds in 4 hours 20 minutes, but every team plays 13 straight. Four courts make it 8 hours 40, so split it: rounds 1 to 7 on Saturday take 4 hours 40, rounds 8 to 13 on Sunday take 4.
