Names and settings: 6 sample teams · 10 weeks · 3 games a week · 30 games
2 to 24 teams. With an odd number, one team has a week off each week.
Your teams are kept in this browser for next time and sent nowhere.
Rule book: four quarters of 10 minutes (FIBA) or 12 minutes (NBA), two 20 minute halves in the men's college game, and 8 minute quarters in most United States high school varsity games.
Every two teams meet twice. Home games: 5 each. Courts: 6 or 7 games each on court 1, 3 or 4 on court 2. Slots: teams get the first slot of a week 6 or 7 times and the last slot 3 or 4 times.
This sports schedule maker turns team names into a weekly season calendar: who plays whom, who is home, on which court or field and when. Pick a sport and it sets the playing-area word and a starting slot length, so one tool works as a basketball, soccer, softball, hockey, football or baseball schedule maker. The example is six teams, home and away, over ten weeks.
6 teams, home and away: 10 weeks, 30 games
The example is six basketball teams playing a double round robin: every pair meets once at each home, three games a week for ten weeks, five home and five away for everyone. On 2 courts with 60 minute slots, games start at 6:00 and 7:00 pm. Date week 1 and later weeks follow seven days apart. Press Softball and the season prints on fields with 90 minute slots.
Odd team counts, single rounds and game length
With nine teams one sits out each week, so tell coaches early. A single round with an even count cannot split home games evenly: eight teams play seven each, home three times or four. Rule books say four 10 or 12 minute quarters for basketball, two 45 minute halves for soccer and seven innings for softball; baseball has no game clock. Your permit decides the slot.
Tips
Need a football schedule maker template? Press Football, type Team 1 to Team 8 and print a season to fill in by hand.
Book a spare week at the end of the permit. A rained-out week moves there whole, and nobody's home and away count changes.
Show one team to print each coach one page: opponent, home or away, place and time every week.
Questions and answers
Is this sports schedule maker free?
Yes, with no account. Team names stay in your browser and travel inside the share link, so a changed schedule means a new link. Print, or save a PDF, from your browser's print window. Live standings at one web address need hosted league software.
How does it balance home and away?
With an odd team count, or a double round robin, every team gets exactly as many home games as away. In a single round with an even count, no team is home more than one game above another. The home team is printed first on every line; in softball and baseball it customarily bats last.
How many courts or fields do I need?
Six teams play three games a week: three slots on one court, or two on two. Twelve teams play six: three slots on two fields. Set your courts, fields or rinks, first start time and slot length; the list below has the figures for every league size, 4 to 24.

BaseballOpens on fields with 150 minute slots from 10:00 am; both are starting values to change. Rule book: nine innings, seven at high school level and six in Little League. There is no game clock. Nine players a side. With no clock a slot is a guess, so agree a time limit when another game follows on the same field. The home team customarily bats in the bottom half of each inning.
BasketballOpens on courts with 60 minute slots from 6:00 pm; both are starting values to change. Rule book: four quarters of 10 minutes (FIBA) or 12 minutes (NBA), two 20 minute halves in the men's college game, and 8 minute quarters in most United States high school varsity games. Five players a side are on court. A tied game goes to overtime, five minutes a period or four in high school, so leave some slack between slots.
FootballOpens on fields with 120 minute slots from 10:00 am; both are starting values to change. Rule book: four quarters of 15 minutes in the professional and college game and four quarters of 12 minutes in high school, with a halftime between the halves. Eleven players a side. Stoppages make real time far longer than the clock: the average NFL game lasts slightly over three hours. Time one of your own league's games before you trust the slot.
HockeyOpens on rinks with 60 minute slots from 6:00 pm; both are starting values to change. Rule book: three periods of 20 minutes in the professional game, with the clock running only while the puck is in play. Recreational and children's leagues often play three shorter periods. Six players a side are on the ice, one of them the goaltender. Ask the rink how long your ice booking runs and type that as the slot.
SoccerOpens on fields with 120 minute slots from 9:00 am; both are starting values to change. Rule book: a standard adult match is two halves of 45 minutes with a half-time break that is usually 15 minutes. That is 105 minutes, so a 120 minute slot leaves 15 to change over. Each side has up to eleven players, one of them the goalkeeper. A league game may end in a draw, so no slot has to allow for extra time.
SoftballOpens on fields with 90 minute slots from 6:00 pm; both are starting values to change. Rule book: seven innings. Some leagues play fewer innings or to a time limit, and a run-ahead rule can end a one-sided game early. Nine fielders play in fastpitch and ten in slow-pitch. The most common rule is that the home team bats second, which is why every game on the schedule names a home team.

How this list was compiled: Six sport settings and 21 league sizes, worked out by Wheel of Teams and checked by script on 2026-09-19. This list replaces an earlier one of 30 presets that printed the same 11 schedules under six sports. League sizes: the script builds the single and the double round robin for every count from 4 to 24 with the circle method described at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Round-robin_tournament, using the same seating, home and away rule and match order as the schedule tool on this site, and confirms what each description says: the number of weeks, games a week and games in all, that every pair meets once (or once at each home in a double round robin), that every team plays or rests exactly once a week, each team's count of home and away games, the weeks off when the team count is odd, and the number of time slots a week needs on one, two, three or four playing areas. That is also the check for the page copy's statements that home and away come out exactly equal with an odd team count or a double round robin, and at most one game apart in a single round robin with an even count. Sport settings: slot lengths and start times are editable starting values chosen by Wheel of Teams, not rule-book figures and not recommendations. The rule-book lengths, players a side and the other sport facts were read on 2026-09-19 at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basketball (quarters and halves, five players, overtime lengths), https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Association_football (two 45 minute halves, usual 15 minute break, eleven players, league games may end in a draw), https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Softball (seven innings, fewer innings or a time limit in some leagues, the run-ahead rule, nine or ten fielders, home team most commonly bats second), https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_hockey (three 20 minute periods with the clock running only while the puck is in play, shorter periods in recreational and children's leagues, six players a side), https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_football (15 and 12 minute quarters, halftime, eleven players, the average NFL game lasting slightly over three hours) and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baseball (nine innings, seven at high school level, six at the Little League level, no game clock, nine players, home team customarily batting in the bottom half). Your own league's rules may set a different length. League and governing-body names are used only to say whose rule book a figure comes from. Licence: own work

How this list was compiled: Twenty-four sample team names in the style of an adult or family recreation league, written by Wheel of Teams on 2026-09-19 so that the example season opens filled in. They fit any of the six sports, and none names a professional club. An example for N teams uses the first N names, and visitors replace them with their own. Licence: own work
