Fantasy Football Schedule Generator: how it works
This fantasy football schedule generator builds a head-to-head regular season for 8, 10, 12 or 14 teams over 13 or 14 weeks, with divisions or without. Each layout says how often rivals meet, and no rematch comes sooner than four weeks after the first game. Division layouts close on a division week (odd-sized divisions pair their left-over teams across). The example: 12 teams, 14 weeks, three divisions of four.
12 teams, 14 weeks, 3 divisions of 4
Each team plays its three rivals twice and the other eight once: 14 games. That is the 11 week single round plus 18 division rematches. They do not sit in three marked weeks: three fall in week 7, two in week 11, one in week 12, and weeks 13 and 14 are all division rematches.
When teams and weeks do not divide evenly
Ten teams in two divisions of five fit 13 weeks exactly: rivals twice is 8 games, the other division once is 5. Fourteen teams play everyone once in 13 weeks with nothing spare. Eight teams over 13 weeks fall one week short of a double round, so each team misses one rematch. No fantasy football league schedule generator can beat that arithmetic; this one prints it.
Tips
- In the example, seats 1 to 4 are division one. For chosen divisions, switch the random draw off and type the names in division order.
- The NFL regular season is 18 weeks (checked for 2026). If your league crowns its champion by week 17, a 14 week season leaves three playoff weeks; 13 weeks leaves four.
- If your league site lets the commissioner edit matchups, key the weeks in before week 1 kicks off.
Questions and answers
How often should division rivals play?
In two divisions of four, rivals meet three times. In every other division layout they meet twice: three divisions of four, four divisions of three, and two divisions of five, six or seven. Every layout below lists its own counts, so the league can check them before the draft.
Why are rematches uneven in a 10 team league?
Ten teams play everyone once in nine weeks, so 13 weeks leaves four spare. With no divisions those weeks replay weeks 1 to 4, and the draw decides which four opponents you see twice. If that feels arbitrary, pick two divisions of five: rivals twice, everyone else once.
Is this fantasy schedule maker free, and does it keep standings?
Free, with no account. Nothing is stored: team names ride inside the share link, so when the schedule changes the league needs the new link. Your browser's print window prints it or saves a PDF. It does not score lineups or keep standings: that takes league software.
