10 Team Round Robin Schedule: how it works
A 10 team round robin schedule has 45 games: nine rounds of five, all ten teams playing every round, no byes. The sample is a one-day 10 team round robin tournament on three courts, 25-minute games from 9:00, finished at 4:30 pm.
Three courts, or all five?
Five games on three courts take two slots, three games and then two, so nine rounds run to 18 slots. A fourth court ends the day no sooner. Court 3 is free every second slot for warm-ups. Five courts play a whole round at once and finish by 12:45, but then each team plays nine games straight. Two courts need 27 slots and end at 8:15 pm.
Is there a 10 team round robin bracket?
Not in the knockout sense. Nobody is eliminated here, so what people call a round robin bracket is the grid on this page: nine rounds, every pairing once. A real bracket comes afterwards, for playoffs. Send the top four to semi-finals, or seed all ten into a bracket where seeds 7 to 10 play in and the top six wait.
Tips
- For a 10 person round robin, type player names instead: ten singles players at table tennis, pool or darts get the same nine games each.
- A double round robin doubles everything: 18 rounds, 90 games, 18 per team. Five courts get it done between 9:00 and 4:30.
- Pick a team under Show only to print just its nine games with courts and times, or save as PDF from your browser's print window.
Questions and answers
How many weeks does a 10 team league need?
Nine, one round a week, and with an even field no team has a week off. Clear First match starts and the chart drops its clock times, so each round reads as a week. Nine games cannot split evenly: five teams are listed first five times, five only four. Press Double for an 18-week season and it evens out at nine each.
Is this a 10 team round robin generator or a fixed chart?
Both. The page opens on a finished chart. Press Make schedule and it draws the ten names into new seats, so the pairings change while the totals stay put. Untick Random draw before you press and it follows your typed order: line 1 plays line 10 first and line 2 last.
Which format for ten teams: one pool or two?
Two pools of five are 10 games each, 20 in all, against 45. Each team plays four games and rests once, because five is odd. On three courts that is 10 slots instead of 18. Choose pools when the afternoon is for playoffs, one pool when every team should get nine games.
