This 12 team round robin schedule generator builds all 66 games: 11 rounds of six, each team against the other 11 once, nobody sitting out. The example fills a day on three courts, 8:30 to 3:50. Swap in your own teams, courts and slot length.

66 games: three courts, six, and nothing in between

On the example's three courts, six games a round means two 20-minute slots: 22 in all, over at 3:50. A fourth or fifth court ends the day no sooner, because six games still need two slots. Six courts play a whole round at once and finish at 12:10; two courts need three slots a round and run to 7:30 pm.

A 12 team round robin tournament: whole field or pools

Played in full, 66 games leave no room for playoffs on three courts. Two pools of six play 15 games each: 30 games, ten slots on the same courts, done by 11:50. Three pools of four play 18 games in six slots. Then seed a bracket from the pool tables: the top two of each six make semi-finals, the top four quarter-finals.

Questions and answers

Is 11 games in one day too many?

At 20 minutes a game each team is on court for 3 hours 40 minutes of a 7 hour 20 minute day, never plays more than two games running and never waits more than 40 minutes. That suits short formats such as small-sided soccer or one-set tennis. For full-length games, run it as an 11-week league or split into pools.

Is a 12 team round robin bracket the same as a 12 team bracket?

No. People say round robin bracket for the chart on this page, where nobody is knocked out. A knockout bracket for 12 is only 11 games, with a first-round bye for the top four seeds.

What if our 12-team league is not 11 weeks long?

For fewer weeks, play the chart's first rounds and ignore the rest: after eight weeks each team has met eight opponents, four at home. For more, press Double: in a 14-week season, weeks 12 to 14 replay weeks 2 to 4, home and away swapped. Agree first that rematches count in the table.
