    Group Name of the day

    How it works

Press New group name and three parts follow The: an opener, grim or wry, an emblem of bones, ash or the night, and an order such as Covenant, Necromancer Cabal or Thesis Committee.

Set the cabal in your own town or tower

A name typed in Your town or tower, Greywick for one, takes the opener’s place: The Greywick Skull Covenant. Lock a part to keep it, and a new press changes the other two. Print 30 group names makes one sheet for the table.

    Grim or wry

Grim openers suit a serious villain: Sepulchral, Thrice-Risen, Unhallowed. Wry ones suit a comedy game: Slightly Cursed, Deathly Punctual, Vaguely Ominous. The emblems stop at bones, candles and headstones, so nothing gory is on a list.

    Questions and answers

What are some good necromancer group names?

The Pallid Skull Covenant, The Sepulchral Ossuary Necromancer Cabal, The Thrice-Risen Hemlock Convocation and The Unhallowed Passing Bell Sextons. Each is one opener, one emblem and one order from the lists on this page.

What are funny names for a necromancer group?

The Poorly Lit Bone China Hobby Club, The Technically Legal Cobweb Thesis Committee and The Cheerfully Morbid Toadstool Reading Group. A wry opener and an everyday order turn a cabal into a comedy troupe.

What words make necromancer related group names?

Words of bone, ash and night, then a word for a secret body. Wiktionary gives necromancy as divination involving the dead, from Greek words for dead and divination, and cabal as a secret organization of individuals.

    How this list was compiled

Own list written for this page on 2026-10-09 for an invented cabal of necromancers in a story or a tabletop game: grim words and wry ones. No entry is the name of a group in a book or a game. Checked by script the same day: no entry repeats an entry of another list on this site, no word sits in two parts of one name, and no pair of neighboring parts appears in the text of nine Wikipedia articles on necromancy and the undead in folklore, books and games, among them https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Necromancy and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Undead.
