    Group Name of the day

    How it works

Press New group name and three parts follow The: an opener from the hour, the tide or the hiding place, a cargo or a thing off the boat, and a crew word from Runners to Sleeping Partners.

    Read the full guide

Start the name at your crew's cove

Whatever you type under Your crew's cove or harbor, say Pell Cove, opens every name: The Pell Cove Tea Chest Runners. A locked part stays while the other two are drawn again, and Print 30 group names gives the table a sheet to vote on.

Smuggler group names for sea, land and paperwork

A sea crew takes Boatmen, Ferrymen, Lightermen or Coast Runners. A crew that carries inland takes Muleteers, Carriers or Night Porters. A front office takes Import-Export Concern or Unlicensed Importers, and a crew of the old wool coast takes Owlers.

    • The funny names start in the cargo list: Stowaway Goat, Marmalade Jar and Treacle Tin sit beside Forged Manifest.

    Questions and answers

What is a good name for a smuggler group?

The Hush-Hush Tea Chest Runners, The Flood-Tide Tarpaulin Boatmen, The Hidden-Cove Hooded Lantern Night Traders and The Duty-Free Stowaway Goat Enterprise. Each is one opener, one cargo and one crew word from the three lists on this page.

What are some funny smuggling group names?

The Misdeclared Marmalade Jar Middlemen, The Untaxed Cheese Rind Smuggling Ring and The Drizzle Donkey Cart Go-Betweens. Lock a cargo that makes you laugh, then press again until the opener and the crew word suit your story.

What were smugglers called in the past?

Wool smugglers in England were called owlers. Wikipedia's Owling article, read October 8, 2026, says owling was the smuggling of sheep or wool out of England, illegal from 1367 until 1824, and that the name is presumed to come from working at night.
