How it works
This field hockey lineup maker puts eleven of your squad on the field for each of the four quarters, a goalkeeper and ten field players in a 3-4-3, and shares the bench turns fairly.

Make the lineup
Replace the sample names with your squad, one per line, up to 18. Under More options, tick May play goal beside your keepers; nobody else goes in goal. Print the chart for the bench or copy it as text. Your league plays two halves? Set 2 and read each column as a half.
How the bench is shared
Eleven play, the rest sit. Fourteen players over four quarters make 12 bench turns, so twelve players sit one quarter and two play the whole game. Press Next game and those two sit first. Between quarters the fair rotation also moves players between backs, midfield and forwards.
Questions and answers
Can I sub during a quarter?
Yes. Field hockey allows unlimited substitutions at any time, except between the award and the end of a penalty corner. The chart changes players only between quarters; make rolling changes on top of it as the game goes.
Why a 3-4-3?
The chart needs one fixed shape, and 3-4-3 uses the classic names: backs, halves, inners and wings. Players move freely between the lines anyway. Play four at the back? Read the left half as a fourth back.
How long is each quarter?
Fifteen minutes under the international rules, which have used four quarters since January 2019. School and club leagues often set their own length, and some still play two halves.
