How this list was compiled

A list of 100 baseball and softball tournament names written by Wheel of Teams on 2026-10-02 and filed in five groups. Every name carries a word of the game (a diamond, a dugout, a slugfest, a twin bill, slow-pitch) and names the event, not a team. The terms were looked up on 2026-10-02 in the English Wikipedia's Glossary of baseball terms (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glossary_of_baseball_terms) and its Softball article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Softball), text under CC BY-SA 4.0. No name was taken from a league, a ballpark, a sponsor or a championship series, and the registered names of the professional, college and youth championships are left out. Each name was also looked up in the English Wikipedia on 2026-10-02, as an article title and as an exact phrase in the text of its articles, and none stood there as an event; that look-up does not find a local event. Compared by script on 2026-10-03 with every other list on this site: no name is repeated. Nothing was checked against a trademark register, so a local tournament may share a name by coincidence.
