One bye, three opening games
Seven teams leave one of eight lines empty, the one beside Seed 1. Seed 1 wins the title in two games; the other six need three. In the bottom half nobody rests: the winners of 3 v 6 and 2 v 7 meet in Game 5. In a 7 team seeded bracket, Seeds 1 and 2 can meet only in the final.
Courts and slots
One court needs six slots, two courts four, three courts three. On three courts all three opening games share the first slot and both semifinals the second. A fourth court saves nothing: only three games are ready at the start.
Tips
- In a 7 team playoff bracket only first place skips a round: Seed 2 plays Seed 7 in round one.
Questions and answers
How many games are in a seven team bracket?
Six: three opening games, two semifinals and the final. Switch from Single to Double and the seven play 12 or 13 games. A 7 team round robin is 21.
Who gets the bye in a bracket for 7 teams?
Seed 1 only, the first line of Your teams. Every other team plays in round one, so at least three teams play just once: the losers of Games 1, 2 and 3.
Does it work as a 7 man bracket for singles?
Yes. One player per line makes it a 7 person tournament bracket for darts, cornhole or table tennis, with six matches. Type the players in ranking order, or press Random draw after: either way one of them gets the bye.
What if one team drops out, or an eighth enters?
The Teams box takes 6 or 8 and redraws the sheet. With six, Seed 2 also has a bye and 2 v 7 disappears. With eight there are no byes: Seed 1 plays Seed 8.
