    Squad Name of the day

    How it works

For games and stories only. Press New squad name and three parts join: a call sign such as Bravo or Kilo, an emblem from wildlife, terrain or the night, and a unit word from Patrol to Scout Platoon.

Use your own call sign or home base

Enter it under Your call sign or home base, such as Wren, and it comes first: Wren Peregrine Patrol. Tap one part, then its padlock, to pin it and press again; only the unpinned parts change. Print 30 squad names hands the whole squad a sheet to pick from.

Where the call signs come from

Thirteen call signs are code words of the International Radiotelephony Spelling Alphabet, spelled the official way: Alfa, not Alpha, and Juliett, not Juliet, as Wikipedia’s article on the alphabet notes. The rest are colors, metals and compass words. For team names with Tactical in them, pin Tactical Team, Tactical Unit or Tactical Squad.

    Questions and answers

What are some cool military squad names for a game?

Bravo Peregrine Tactical Team, Kilo Treeline Patrol, Sierra Gyrfalcon Scout Squad and Foxtrot Witching Hour Detachment. Military squad names like these join one call sign, one emblem and one unit word from the lists below.

    Does it name real units?

No. No armed service, country, real unit, operation, base, rank or weapon is on the lists, and on October 4, 2026 a script found no pair of parts and no whole name among the names on Wikipedia’s List of military special forces units.

Does it work as a tactical team name generator?

Yes. Tactical Team, Tactical Squad, Ops Squad and Special Ops Team are unit words, so good tactical team names, special ops team names and cool names for special ops teams appear once you pin one of them and press again.

Can a game-night or laser tag team use these military team names?

Yes. It works as a military group name generator for any team: cool military team names for laser tag, good military team names for a quiz night, military names for teams in a tabletop game. None is official.

How this list was compiled: Own list written for this page on 2026-10-04 in three groups. The first holds thirteen code words of the International Radiotelephony Spelling Alphabet, each read in the table of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NATO_phonetic_alphabet that day (the other thirteen are left out); the rest are colors, metals and compass words. For games and stories only: no armed service, country, real unit, operation, base, rank or weapon is on the list. Checked by script on 2026-10-04: no entry repeats an entry of another list on this site; no pair of neighboring parts appears in the text of three Wikipedia pages read that day, and no whole name is a name linked or printed in bold there (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_military_special_forces_units, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Fictional_military_organizations, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Fictional_mercenaries). A real unit somewhere may still carry a result as a nickname; none is official. Licence: own work
