How it works

Five opening games, one quarterfinal with no rested team
Thirteen is three short of 16, so Seeds 1 to 3 skip round one and need three wins for the title; everyone else needs four. Seed 1 waits for the 8 v 9 winner, Seed 3 for 6 v 11 and Seed 2 for 7 v 10. Game 7 is the one quarterfinal with no rested team in it.
Courts and slots
One court needs 12 slots, two courts 7, three courts 5. A fourth court saves nothing; a fifth brings it down to 4, with all five opening games in the first slot. No quarterfinal can start early: each waits on at least one opening game.
Tips
- Seed 4 is the highest seed without a bye: it plays Seed 13, then the 5 v 12 winner.
Questions and answers
How many games are in a 13 team single elimination bracket?
Twelve: five opening games, four quarterfinals, two semifinals and the final. Switch from Single to Double and the thirteen play 24 or 25 games. A 13 team round robin is 78.
Who gets a bye in a 13 team tournament bracket?
Seeds 1, 2 and 3. The other ten play in round one, so at least five teams play just once: the losers of Games 1 to 5.
Does it work as a 13 person bracket?
Yes. Type one player on each line of Your teams for darts, cornhole or table tennis: twelve matches. Rankings go in best first; with none, press Random draw and the first three names drawn hold the byes.
What if one team drops out, or a fourteenth enters?
Put 12 or 14 in the Teams box. With twelve, Seed 4 has a bye and waits for the 5 v 12 winner. With fourteen, Seed 3 plays Seed 14 in a sixth opening game.
