This cross country score sheet scores a meet by places, not times: a column for each team, a row for each of its first five finishers and the team score below. Two more rows keep the 6th and 7th runners.

Score a meet by places
Type each team's name under Team 1 and Team 2, then the place each of its first five runners finished in. Once every team has five in, the lowest team score is marked Leading.
Displacers and short teams
The 6th and 7th runners are not added, but they keep their places, so each one pushes the other teams' later runners a place back. A team with fewer than five finishers has no team score: take its column off and count the places again without its runners.
A meet that scores four runners? Take the 5th runner row off with the cross at its end.
Questions and answers
How do you score a cross country meet?
Give every finisher a place: 1 for the winner, 2 for second, and so on. Add the places of each team's scoring runners, most often its first five. The team with the lowest total wins.
What is a perfect score in cross country?
15, with five scoring runners: a team whose runners take the first five places scores 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5.
How is a tie broken in cross country?
By the meet's own rule. One rule gives the win to the team whose sixth runner finished first; another compares each team's last scoring runner. The sheet marks the teams Tied and leaves the tie-break to you.
Can I print a blank cross country score sheet?
Yes. Print blank sheet prints the teams on screen with empty boxes, on one Letter or A4 page. Add the teams first, up to twelve; after typing, Print this meet prints the names and places.
